Since we all loved Marilyn Monroe, we thought it would be appropriate to remember her passing on August 5th, 1962, at the young age of 36.

Born, Norma Jean Mortenson -- later baptized as Norma Jeane Baker -- on June 1, 1926, her childhood was difficult. Abandoned by her mother, she spent her formative years in several foster homes and an orphanage. Despite all the painful years of her childhood, she was able to start her film career with hard work and determination.

Her first notable bit part was in The Asphalt Jungle (1950). That same year she played a spectacular cameo roll in All About Eve (1950), which was the break that launched her into stardom.

We all know the rest of the story of Marilyn's meteoric career and the sudden tragic end to her life by a drug overdose, on August 5, 1962.
